What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It applies to:
- this website (including shop, wines, account, and apply pages)
- wholesale account applications and ongoing accounts
- orders for meat cartons and wine
- enquiries and related customer service
What we collect
Depending on how you use Bendbrook, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details such as name, business or trading name, email, phone, and delivery or billing address
- Business details such as ABN, venue or kitchen type, and wholesale application notes
- Account details such as login email, password (stored hashed), approval status, and order history
- Order and payment details such as products ordered, target weights, delivery instructions, invoices, and payment records. Card payments are handled by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers on our servers
- Delivery details needed for refrigerated meat runs and wine deliveries (including site access notes you give us)
- Age / ID checks for alcohol where we need to confirm you are 18+ for wine purchases or delivery
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP. Our hosting and CDN may log this automatically for security and performance
- Communications you send us (emails, form messages, call notes)
We generally collect information directly from you. Sometimes we receive it from your staff placing orders on your account, or from delivery and payment partners when fulfilling an order.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- review and approve wholesale applications
- create and manage customer accounts
- take, pick, invoice, and deliver orders
- arrange chilled or frozen meat delivery and wine delivery
- meet liquor licensing and age-restriction obligations for wine
- answer enquiries and provide customer service
- improve the site, fix faults, and keep systems secure
- meet legal and accounting requirements
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for unrelated third-party marketing lists.
When we share information
We only share what is needed for the job, for example with:
- Delivery and logistics partners who run our refrigerated meat deliveries
- Payment processors and banks for taking and reconciling payment
- IT providers who host this website, email, backups, and security (including CDN / firewall services)
- Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers, when required
- Regulators or law enforcement if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, customers, or the public
Some providers may store or process data outside Australia (for example cloud hosting or CDN). Where that happens, we take reasonable steps so information is handled consistently with Australian privacy expectations.
Cookies and similar tech
This site uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed to run the shop and your account (for example session login, cart contents, and security). We may also use basic analytics or performance tools to understand how the site is used.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. If you do, parts of the site (cart, checkout, account login) may not work properly.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example transaction and accounting records). Typical patterns:
- wholesale applications: while we assess them, then a reasonable period after if not approved
- customer accounts and order history: while the account is active, then for our ordinary business and legal retention periods
- server and security logs: for a shorter operational period unless needed for an investigation
When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards for the size and nature of our business: HTTPS, access controls on systems, hashed passwords for accounts, and limiting staff access to what they need for their role. No online service is perfectly secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us straight away.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong or out of date
- explain how we handle your information
- in some cases, delete information we no longer need (we may still need to keep some records for legal reasons)
Use the contact page and mark the message as a privacy request. We may need to verify who you are before we respond. We aim to reply within a reasonable time.
If you are not happy with how we handle a privacy matter, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Children and alcohol
This site is aimed at adult wholesale and wine customers. Wine is 18+ only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Links to other sites
Our pages may link to third-party sites (for example maps or payment portals). Their privacy practices are their own. Read their policies before you provide information there.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you understand the revised policy.
